I looked up, smiled and agreed,"Sure. I see that you don't have a place to sit."
"Thank you", she said and sat down with her book "Two Lives by Vikram Seth" and a frappe.
I was much engrossed in my book that I didn't cared much about that girl.(Actually, I am bad about starting with a conversation)
Then ten minutes later.
I looked at her, pumped in some courage.
"Hi, I'm Rahul. You new to this place?"
Hey, I'm Vrunda. Yeah, this is my first time to this coffee shop."
"Cool. Even I am coming here for the first time. Isn't it a nice place?"
"Yeah. It is indeed." she said and continued to read her book.
Five minutes later,
I again looked at her,
"Do we know each other?" I asked.
"I don't think so."
"Then why are we sitting together?"
"Maybe I came here first but you occupied my seat as I was ordering this frappe."
"Really?? Oh, then m so sorry". I looked around, the place was still full.
"Can I sit here for a while coz the place seems to be packed.?" I asked.
"Yeah sure"
"By the way, I'm Rahul, I am unemployed." I introduced myself.
"I'm Vrunda. I'm an enterpreneur."
"Nice to meet you, Vrunda."
"Same here."
"So, what are you reading?" I asked her.
"I am reading.... hmmm... Two Lives"
"Heard it was a nice book" I said.
"Till now, it seems good." She smiled.
Then, she started on with her reading. We were silent for a while.
"So what are you reading?" She asked.
I looked up and didn't respond. I returned back to my book.
"Did I ask something wrong?" She asked with a surprise.
I looked up again.
"Can't you see the cover? Its clearly written 'Angels & Demons' "
"God, What is wrong with you?"
"Nothing i guess!"
"You are impossible", She said with high voice.
"I know." Saying this, I winked at her.
She then turned silent for a moment. We continued to read our books.
Then suddenly,
"Do you like this place?" I asked her.
"Yeah, its peaceful and the ambience is soothing."
"Are you regular to this place?"
"Yeah, I come here daily. Get myself energized with the sip of this coffee." She said.
"Even I liked this place a lot. But I haven't seen you before?"
"I'm Rahul. I am an engg. student."
"Cool! I'm into advertisement."
"So, What do you advertise?" I asked.
"None of your business!" She got up and left the table. She came back after a few minutes. I was busy with attending an important call.
She picked up "Angels & Demons" book, and began to read it.
Ending the call I observed that she was reading my book, so I turned my hands on to "Two Lives"
A few minutes later.
"Can I borrow that book?" She asked me.
I didn't replied.
"That book looks very familiar to me." She said.
"Really? I just started to read it."
"Where do you study?" She enquired.
"Not at all important for you to know. I don't even know who you are."
She was silent thinking about my insanity.
"What time is it?" I asked her.
"I can clearly see that Titan watch you are wearing" She looked at my watch.
I looked at it and smiled back.
"Oh, I just forgot that I was wearing it."
"Ah! So this is how you start a conversation with a girl?"
"Huh! Relax. There are many girls around here, not you!"
"You got an attitude" She said.
"As if you don't"
"Boys are always boys."
"Like girls are not women"
"I wish I had a better place to sit"
"Even I wish that you never sat here"
"You were the one who came and sat here." She replied.
"But it was you who asked me if you can sit here"
"Really? No, it was you"
"No, it was you"
We both turned away from each other and completed with our drinks.
Then I glanced at her with the corner of my eyes. Even she was stealing the glance.
It was the time when the eyes were talking and lips failing.
I thought that she was the lady I had been waiting for so long. Her beauty, sense of humour, understanding, love for coffee and books, wow. She was an entire package.
We stared at each other like we knew each other for years. I knew it was love at first sight.
"Hi, I'm Rahul"
"I'm Vrunda" She said.
" There is a great coffee shop on the street nearby. I love coffee as much as the book you are reading now. And I hate to have my coffee alone." I said.
"Come on! Don't act smart. I am already in. Let's get out for that coffee shop."
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The couple at the nearby table may be wondering if we would come back to same shop, same table and start all over again. They were suspicious about us having short term memory loss. (^_^)
